Japan - Bowhunting for huge Sika Deer - SPECIAL AREA

After years of persuasion, this outfitter has been able to get a put together a hunt for hunters hoping to come to Japan, to bow or spear hunt for the biggest free range sika in the world with brown bear also available. This will be the first opportunity for nonresidents to hunt in Japan in many decades. He has arranged with the local government a permit to cull the abundant sika and although the use firearms will not be allowed it will be possible to bow hunt or use spears. This is only for a small province on the island Hokkaido, by no means does it mean all of Japan is open to bowhunting. Permits are issued to landowners who then employ us to help with the problem. They call it pest control, although I'm sure you will have a different term for it as the stags are the biggest and most plentiful in the world. There is only one SCI listing for Hokkaido sika, the deer we shoot will be gold listings.

The outfitter has been working hard to get opportunities for non-residents and hoped for firearms to be allowed but stuck out, but he is more than happy about the bow-hunting, on private property only. This is a great chance for folks who are looking to experience hunting in Japan and get the biggest Sika of their lives. The rut is mid October to early November and there are a couple slots open at the moment.

Hunting in the winter is very good and there are many blinds set up. There is no doubt that there will be good opportunities to get stags down as the animals are numerous. The outfitter has been hunting here for years and taken many trophy class stags, many in the 200SCI class, all taken with shotgun. He has guided many Japanese hunters and his success rate is 100%. You will not regret an experience like bowhunting Sika deer in Japan!

Cost:
Seven day hunt - $8500US - Includes two trophy stags
Five day hunt - $6500US - Includes two trophy stags
Observers - $200 a day
Any bear will have a trophy fee of $5000US.
Additional stags - $1,500
Does - free of charge
Permit for hunt - 20,000 Yen (approximately $250 US)

*Included are all accommodations, trophy preparation, meals and transportation after arriving at Kushiro airport or train station. The Japan air pass is the cheapest way to fly up from Tokyo.

*Bows should be sent to outfitter prior to hunt, not brought with you, then taken with you when you leave. Or gear can be borrowed from outfitter, no charge.

*The hunting will take place around the city of Kushiro on the island of Hokkaido. Hunting will be 30-40min from town and hunters can stay at a nice hotel in town or stay in a spike camp.

Please contact me for more details.

Tom this is a great offer and a chance of a life time I can see I need to be getting my Bow arm in shape for the Future. Good luck on your Adventure.

I can see I need to win th elottery soon. I already couldnt affort 1/100th of what the world had to offer!

Wow, those are incredible Sika! Well done for opening a new country. I'm sure it was a bureaucratic nightmare. Is the export of the trophies a problem ( Export permits and Veterinary permits), or is that paperwork included in the package?

I want to see pictures of the Spear hunted trophies!

The outfitter has sent the heads and capes out without incident. They are not a CITES animal so it should not be a problem, depending on country of course.

that is one wicked way to kill two dreams at one time ,holiday in japan and take not one but two sikas as well .if i wasnt going to brittish columbia this year and africa next year which ive already laid down the deposits for i would be all over this one....
i am wondering if i paid a deposit now could i get this hunt at this price for the year after next???????

Wow, thats the biggest sikas I have ever seen. Didnt realize they could be that size!

Those are HUGE sika deer.

japan and no swords mentioned,? if they havent been hunted , maybe could be done?

Got 3 Japanese originals, maybe I could start a trend here. They use to do test cuts through prisoners, why not Sika? Those are some very nice Sika's though, Japan is on my too do list and to hunt while I'm there,,,,,, Look forward to this in a few years.:samurai:

Fantastic! :thumb:

Ummmmmm, howcome all the Japs pictured above ALL have rifles? 'n we can only bowhunt?
If there are Japs who own rifles, can't one hire them? It'll spread your clientele / marketing base considerably!

Think its shotguns. My guess; foreners are not allowed with firearms in Japan, and Japanese are not allowed to have rifles? But maybe its possible to rent a shotgun?

Tom

I do not want to sound even in the least disrespectful

but

Hunting in Japan?

My witty comedic soul just gurgles forth with one liners you have no interest in hearing

but really

Okay, as Archie Bunker said, I will just go into the corner and stifle myself

Yeah second wind...funny that they want to hunt with spears in a country that's soooo advanced! However a Sika with a Japanese Bow would be something!....and the traditional dress!!!!

You just put one more hunt on my "To do list".
Thanks, I think:p

Would be great to hunt them with my bow! :)

Just got a report from my hunters that took this offer up. Great hunt with some great Sika taken. I'll try and post some pictures soon.
