Ok. I am doing a total cost report for my taxi work I recieved today. Hunt took place the first week of May 2011. So total turn arround was just over 13 months. It would have been sooner if it was not for expired export permits. Probably about 10 months.

Work done by Moredou taxidermy:
White Blesbok: shoulder mnt
Springbok: skull, flat skin
Common Blesbok: skull, flat skin
Impala: shoulder mnt
Impala #2: skull, flat skin
Blue Wildebeast: shoulder mnt
Gemsbok: ped shoulder mnt
Jackal: flat skin
Bushbok: ped shoulder mnt
Warthog: skull

Total paid to Moredou taxidermy was just under $2300. This included the packaging of the crate for shipment. They where always in contact and answered any questions I had.

Next was Safari Cargo Systems. They picked up my crate from Moredou and handled my export to the U.S. Andrew was more than helpful through the entire process. This is where I ran into my export permit problem. Took an extra month only to find out they forgot impala #2 permit. So added another month. Once this was taken care of my trophies where state side in about 2 weeks. Set up the air fare and insurance as well.

Total cost from SCS: $1644.06

Final leg of the trip was handled by Fauna and Flora. They got my crate from New York and cleared all the paperwork. Also set up the shipment from NYC to Ohio via YRC. This took about 2 weeks to my front door.

Total cost from F&F: $882.69. (freight from NYC to Ohio $384.15)

Grand total was $4826.75 give or take cent :D

Here are some pics....I will give better ones as I get them out.

Thanks for the info and nice looking trophies. Any idea how much you would had saved if you would had shipped them ocean freight?

Rich,
Quote for ocean was $1318.80. We thought the cost of air wasn't that much more plus we got or trophies faster. So we went with air.

For only another $300 or so I would had done the same. Thanks for the info, I'm trying to ball park the costs of a trip for next year and this info is quite helpful.

Moredou did my dip-n-pack in 2008. It is exciting to once again put your hands on those trophies.

So when is your next trip? I leave in Aug. for my 4th trip to SA then Namibia for first time for Leopard.

Congrats, they made it.

Nice. How wide is your Wildebeest?

Sounds like you paid $1100 hundred less for taxidermy, $800 more for shipping and $475 less for Dip/pack, sounds like $675 give or take left for next time.

Thanks for the valuable report Rick!

@rodger, no return trip planned yet. Prob won't be for a few years because next time my kids have to go. They are young now. But the sooner the better.

@diamond, I will have to pull the tape out again. Bit if I recall he was 31-32 inches outside spread? My PH measured him but I never wrote down the numbers. I know he is a good one :D

@ brick, yes they finally made it! I felt like a kid a Christmas again!!

@ Jerome, no problem. The more info we get to everyone the better!

Well congrats. IMO 26" is a good one, 28" is a big one and 31-32" is HUGE. LOL I was guessing 28", way off.

He was an add on, kind of as a b-day gift from my dad. I was told to pic out another animal a few months before we went. At the time it was kind of an after thought. Really wasn't all that excited. Bit he is now by far one of my favorite trophys. I will try to get tje tape out tonight and score him.

Ya thats the way it goes. Mountain Reedbuck held absolutely no attraction for me whatsoever. However after all the encounters I had while hunting Kudu I really took a liking to them. They are a neat animal that I was priveleged to have the opportunity to hunt and enjoyed thoroughly.

Nice B-day present BTW. My dad usually gives me tools! LOL

Good information for other to use on AH for future planning...

nice trophies and it looks like you shipment came through with out any damage.

There was some small damage to the crate where it looks like a fork lift cought a corner. It was very minor. So all came through good and the big bonus is they where all my animals!

few more pics of the work....

Hmm, interesting mini T-rex mount you have there!

DG hunting at its best!!! The Stegosaurus mount is right next to the t-rex ...my thought is when my 4 year old wants an African animal in his room. I go shoot one and put it in there for him because I am a good dad. Now I just need him to ask his mom for a cape buffalo so I can go get that for him!!

thanks for the info. I leave in 36 days and am still woefully ignorant on that part of it and appreciate it.

Outside spread is 31"-31 1/8"
Inside spead is 26"
