I am traveling to Zimbabwe in 8 weeks. I want to know what converter/adapter I should be looking at for charging my digital camera and iPad?

Thanks!

Electricity, the Zimbabwean standard is 220/240 volts, three-pin 15 amp outlets. Most lodges/camps have generator(s) to power the electricity through rechargeable batteries therefore it is recommended to bring a small power inverter that plugs into a cigarette lighter to invert 12V DC Power to 110V AC for recharging in the hunting vehicle. Generator(s) in most camps are only run during the morning and evening hours and sometimes can be run at other times by special request. Be sure to check with your hunting outfitter in Zimbabwe what they are using. Click here for the Worldwide Voltage Guide.

Be sure to check with your hunting outfitter in Zimbabwe the type of electrical set up that they have, and the type of electrical outlet that they use...
Regarding your iPad, you will only be needing an American to European or Zimbabwean outlet plug as the iPad takes power from 110V to 220V. For your digital camera you will have to see what sort of voltage it can accommodate for to see wether or not you will need a power converter...

For a lot more info, check out the following article, even though written for South Africa, it will have the necessary information that you are looking for: South Africa Electrical Converter & Adapter

Another note, if the power is being provided by a generator you may want to look at something that has a built in surge protection and regulator to protect those sensitive devices.
It is not first world power generation. :)

J is right on the money about that Apple device will work on 220 straight up. still refer to above caution though.

Thanks! I appreciate it. I will look at Radioshack for a selection of converters/adapters.

Designed to protect electrical devices from voltage spikes, surge protectors are crucial in Africa in times of thunderstorms and lightning...

Thanks! My camera is new so I will check voltage on it. My iPad is version 1. These are the only two electric items I am taking. I can't wait! Thank you! I got my Courtney Boots ready (even though I will mostly be hunting from truck since I am handi-capped and can't walk). My rifle is ready, gotta pick up a couple more boxes of ammo and then life is good! :)

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
Ross
