I was poking around the internet awhile back and found this website. FG South African Safaris
I noticed in his pricelist that he is offering Sitatunga in the Eastern cape. I emailed him and he said it was true but when I asked to see some pictures he stopped corresponding.

Does anyone know if anyone actually has Sitatunga in SA? I have never heard of it before.

checked the site, however i do not think that there are any sitatunga in SA

Not only that, he shows some outrageous numbers for horn size for trophies. He must be thinking of something else, probably an error. We have been down this road before on this forum about sitatunga. It is possible for someone to import whatever critter there environment can support. Probably no reason one couldnt have some sitatunga in RSA, just wouldnt be native. If one wants one of these fine animals he must figure on going to Zambia, Tanzania perhaps the Caprivi, or Uganda. Botswana, where I got mine has been closed on them for some time and probably wont open again. Central and west Africa have the Western variety of sitatunga as well, but thats a pretty specialized safari. Would take some homework to figure out the best place to hunt them.

He has a list of species in that price list from all over the map. Maybe he knows a place you might hunt some of those species listed, but my money is not in the Eastern Cape.

As SES says head north!

Had a look at the website. I think he is hunting Hunters hill for exotics. Well if he is offering a Nubian ibex for 5500euro that the deal of the millennium! For sitatunga. There is some in SA, seen them on auctions. Know of one farm in the Northern Cape that has a couple. But they are extremely expensive and as far as I know not on hunting list.

You guys are mirroring my thoughts. I just thought it was interesting that there may be some around somewhere. As for heading north to hunt them Im afraid that is simply beyond my means (unless I save for a very long time). As much as I would love one I know I can do several other hunts for the price of a Sitatunga hunt so im sure that is the way I will go.

I saw they were offering them here. And there are a few other places in Texas. I looked at the trophies in the gallery and they didn't very much like a "sitatunga". Maybe the body but the horns were small. Maybe somebody else can shead some light on the subject.

Eric, Where did you see the pictures of sitatunga that you question? I cant find them.

You are right Scott, he has taken them down.
