Be in good phyical condition and prepared for the heat, of course the heat depends on what time you go, but it's still a hot climate..Lots of Buffalo and lots of hard walking when I hunted there.
Caprivi buffalo hunts can be very demanding, or sometimes very easy, depending on time of year, luck, area, etc. The better months to hunt them are generally from July to end September, with October and November also good is some areas, but much hotter during the day. This year, because of all the rain and the late thunderstorm in June again, the hunting was generally tough but very do-able. It involved a lot of walks through water, which in turn cooled us off quite well! I prefer the tracking hunt for them, but some areas have enough so that if you spend enough time there, you will see some to then spot and stalk.
Here are 2 examples of bulls shot this year:
In August of 2008 I hunted in the Caprivi with Vaughan Fulton of Classic Safaris. It was a spot and stalk hunt for me, and I took a wonderful old bull with 15 1/2 inch bosses. This was the second time I've hunted with Classic Safaris, and I hope to make a third trip with them.
I also hunted the caprivi with Classic Safaris and I think it is a very good place to hunt buffalo. They have good heavy bosses. The width might be average but if its a buffalo only hunt you can take your time and very likely find a dandy.
