Looking for a good deal for Mature eland and big kudu at Namibia for 2013, plus other plains game at right price

i would suggest you look at Namibia PH association and start sending some e mails to see who has great kudu and eland...

i have been looking at Namibia for a 2014 or 2015 trip and there are a group of outfitters and PH that have some very good areas. Best i can tell is the northern Namibia has better Kudu...however i found a few in the south that have great Kudu also...

I agree with James - contact napha@mweb.com.naand work your way into your planning from there.

The majority of huge kudu and eland (from my experience) is northern Namibia (Omaruru / Otjiwarongo / Otavi / Grootfontein / Tsumeb areas, to name a few.
As James also correcly noted - some huge kudu are also taken South-East in the Aranos / Gobabis / Dordabis areas.

As I replied to your other thread, I would strongly suggest Eden. It is also one of the places in Namibia which has not been struck by the wasting disease which has killed so many kudu elsewhere over the last five years or so. I split my time last year between the Caprivi and Eden so actually hunted Eden only about six days. During that time. I know we saw fifty plus eland and twice that many kudu, one of which was a 58" plus that we couldn't close with before dark. I ended up with SCI gold medal examples of each (38" eland and 55" kudud). Their daily rates and trophy fees are quite reasonable, and the camp is very comfortable. You can go directly to them through their site at Home or through Jack Atcheson at Jack Atcheson and Sons . Jamy Traut ran the operation for years prior to leaving last year. It seems to be continuing its high level of service under Naude', Dries, and Stacey's care.

EDEN seems to be the place!

BigKudu,

I had a great hunt with Pieter Grobbelaar who owns Horabe Hunting Safaris and he is about an hour out of Grootfontein. He owns his own farm and also has access to others for a great selection of animals. I shot 10 great animals on my safari, including a 57" Kudu that made Rowland Ward and 7 others that made SCI. He has plenty of game and the hunting is tough and worthwhile! He speicalizes in HUGE eland and kudu--I've seen 'em! Food is spectacular, accomodations are great, camp staff and trackers will make a difference in your hunt and trophy care is first class. I know several folks that have hunted with Pieter, most more than once. Due to job limitations I have only been able to hunt there once but will be going back as I trust him and I know how well we will be treated. It is a private farm and does not leave you feeling like you hunted at the zoo and isn't commercialized. It borders Bushmanland which is a special treat in and of itself. Before you commit, contact Pieter, it'll be worth your time and you will learn some things that help you regardless of who you ultimately book your hunt with. Feel free to contact me for more info. Good luck. Have a great hunt!

Personally I dont think $500 is reasonable daily rate in Namibia, compared to what they charge everywere else in that country (normally from 170 to 250 US$) The trophy fees was however normal.

Hi Big kudu,

Hi would suggest you should contact OZONDJAHE HUNTING SAFARIS in Namibia, their id's are info@AfricanHuntingSafaris.com. They would for sure cater to your requirement.

Hi Big Kudu

Look at our website.

Thank you

Sylvia

Just make sure you don't go by historical information. The kudu rabies has hit some places pretty hard. I've spent a month total over 2 years in Namibia and have taken a pretty good selection of animals. Number one on my list was kudu. I finally got one at sundown on the last day. Some places have been hard hit and the kudu are few and young. Others have been relatively spared. There were three big bulls walking through downtown Windhoek the day I arrived my first trip. I thought kudu was going to be a slam dunk. It wasn't the case, at least for me.

Heard about the "Kudu Rabies" after my arrival and it has hit some of the northern areas harder than others.

Here is a sample of your quarry from the Otavi area.
I saw other Kudu bulls and these Eland are all still standing, except one of the Eland! :)

Great comparison photo. Nice bull.

Big Kudu,

If you are a member of SCI you can get hunt reports for Namibia Outfitters. These are really helpful for they are sent in to SCI from hunters who have been there.

Ask for references from all outfitters you contact.

Good Kudu and Eland

Looking for good Kudu and Eland please contact us.
We are situated near Grootfontein.
Our Kudu taken this yer are all Rowland Ward.
We do both rifle and bow hunting.
Please contact us for more information.

True the Rabies did hit some areas. Some guys lost up to 60% of the Kudu and some Eland.
We are still lucky! Raging fires also have hit some areas. It really has been a difficult year!
Please contact us for photos and information re Kudu and Eland hunt. 59 inch is a fantastic size. They are not many. You are very lucky!
Well done. Nice photos.
I seem to have problems loading photos onto this website.
I will gladly furnish you with more information and photos.

thank you very much! :) I am also well pleased about the kudu.

Eland are also good. Especially mature Bulls.
Naibia has lost quite a few Kudu this year. Good bulls are hard to come by.
