hi everyone

i am now going to a game farm in the Limpopo province of south africa. The outfitter is KUDU LODGE and we are looking for two kudu bulls and a few impala
all the best,

You get lost Ibie? or just turned down a new road with a better scouting report. :)

hi all
i arrive back from my hunt this weekend
So here goes
on friday we left johannesburg on the four hour drive to limpopo we arrived there at 10'o clock that evening and helped our selves to some home made snacks.
on saturday morning we went out at sunrise in search of impala and kudus. It was a walk and stalk.at about 9'o clock my uncle shot a impala that wasn't very big. we arrived back at camp at 12 and had lunch we had split into two groups and a family friend that was in another group shot two impalas which were really big.the ones horns measuring 20" the other 23".At about 2 we left to go for the afternoon session and agreed to meet at a mountain at sunset and so we set out we saw a few big kudus and by the time my uncle got ready with the shooting stick they were already spooked. So by the evening the other group had a Kudu cow and a small impala ram.we were leeving when the tire of the game viewing truck got flat and by the time we left it was already gone 7p.m.On sunday we left about half an hour before sunrise to climb up a mountain to look for some game.from the mountain we saw a massive kudu bull and we came across him a few minutes earlier. And my uncle went for it and hit him in the leg we tracked it for about 3 hours and saw that we were getting nowhere so we went off for our midday break. We dropped of my uncle at camp and went to go and fetch the two men from the other group who were in a hide.Ebrahim my other uncle shot two impalas one 23" the other 18".At this point i doubted i would have time to shoot but on the way back we spotted a impala 280 m away which was mine i lined up in a sand bag with a 30-06 remington, it took me under 30 sec to look threw the scope and fire i took it with a heart shot and he dropped on the spot this impala measured 28'' which is my biggest impala ever and one i am proud about.
All the best
Ibie

sounds like you had a good time...did you ever recover the Kudu?

My SCI book is a few years old but if that impala is 28 inches, it may be the new world record for southern impala.

Whether that is 28 or not it is a beauty. Congratulations.
Sounds like Uncle needs another trip to the range! :)

No according to the P.H that was with us the world record is 31"

actually we got a call today to say they found the kudu tracks and are back onto him

For Southern or East African? My book is out of date but the EA records are 31-32 but southern are around 27. Guess I better buy a new copy of SCI.

oh ok im sure this is a southern impala...... either way im not too sure myself

Its a monster of an impala and the 31" record is for Roland ward not SCI I believe anyway if it is 28" and it looks like it the cahnces of you shooting another bigger is the same as winning the lottery Congrats.
