I have booked a safari in Tanzania and RSA for August 2012. I will be taking my 13 yr old son. I need a booking agent or a company that facilitates the whole safari process, including, travel, visas, firearm licenses and permits, CITES permits, meet and greet, and transfers.

Normally its the other way around. The booking agent sets you up with the hunter and in the process takes care of the details. Does not the safari company you booked with use any agents? There are booking agents on this site that may be able to get you set up, but usually they get their fees from the safari company for booking customers for them.

I know the hunter personally. I was hoping to just pay the agent's fee directly, myself. I booked the hunt a few years back.

Tanzania Visa...You will be money ahead by getting yours ahead of time. Find a travel agent and ask if they will provide that service. I used Gracy Travel - (210) 698-2611. They were able to help with the Tanzania visa, travel arrangements, the Netherlands gun permit. They helped every step of the way.

Look on AH in the outfitter section to see who's operated in both countries, is a good start. Do your back ground checks to see if the game animals are available the time you are traveling. Not all animals are available all the time in Tanzania.

Tanzania will need you rifle serial numbers ahead of time and your outfitter their will help you out. Make sure that you have plenty of passport photos available for this process mine requested 8 passport photos for the permits.

Cites permits need to be filled out before you leave. Line up your importer and taxidermist, they will assist you in the process.

Get your yellow card all filled out. and then have some fun...

It does take time and organisation, but you can do the lot yourself.

sestoppelman is on the money, your safari company should inform you of all the requrments needed so you don't miss anything. Your paying them, a third party will drain more funds from a safari. Of course if you have the money ...

May I complement you on deciding to take your son. At that age it will be a significant part of his personal growth and you won't regret it.

simpson1533~ I'm quite familiar with travel arrangements to Tanzania and South Africa and can arrange your flights, help with Visas, immunizations, firearms permits, transit through Netherlands if necessary, etc. It will be too early to arrange flights right now but feel free to give me a shout and I'll be glad to help you out.

God post Safari Gal

A booking agent typically books the hunt (including transportation, accommodation, animals etc.), forms for transporting rifles, and can arrange the tourist visas if needed, but the CITES and export permits are arranged by the PH/Outfitter in the country.
