What areas have you hunted in Botswana? What species did you take? How many days? If you have hunted in more than one area how did they compare? For those of you unfamiliar with Botswana you can use these hunting maps as reference.

Okavango for Elephant.

I book for Johan Calitz in Botswana and I get some specials from some of the other outfitters in that country from time to time..

Botswana is very expensive and I don't book a lot of hunts there for that reason, and also because its pretty much elephant hunting on my part with some buffalo tossed in..

If I wanted a really big elephant and had the time and money this is definately where I would go.

I have hunted in Botswana 4 times, in 4 different areas.
in 1998 I was in NG20 (Okavango Delta) and took Buffalo, Red Lechewe, Impala, Warthog, Tsessebe and Kudu
in 2001 I was back in NG20 with my Sons. We took: Red Lechewe, Impala, Warthog, Tsessebe, Kudu and Hyena.
In 2005 I was in NG 20 and took Impala, and Red Lechewe then moved to Clive Eaton's ranch near Ghanzi where I took Zebra, Ostrich and Kudu
In 2008 I was in NG14 ( Northern part of the Delta) and took Buffalo, Tsessebe, and Impala, I moved to NG20 and took Warthog, than moved to a ranch below Ghanzi and took Gemsbuck and Zebra.
I booked NG20, Ng14 and the ranch south of Ghanzi with Mark Kyriacou. I booked Clive Eaton's ranch with Clive

TerryR, I guess no need to ask whether or not you enjoyed hunting in Botswana since you went 4 times. For those unfamiliar with Botswana, I have included this map (Zonation of Hunting Areas) so you can see where the hunting blocks are that TerryR is referring to. For NG20 & NG14 look way North by the Okavango...

Unfortunately, most of the areas in the Delta will be closed to hunting after this season. I know that that pertains to NG20. I'm not sure about NG14.

Thanks TerryR for that information.

I hunted plains game in the Tuli Block with WildGame Safaris in 2007. Took several animals and had a great time. One nice wildebeast with my bow that was a stunner.

My Arizona hunting partner owns a huge parcel of land along the Limpopo River in Botswana's Tuli Block that is loaded with elephants, leopards and lions. During my visits to his place I have shot only impalas, wildebeest and kudu to provide meat for a village adjoining his property.

I enjoy hunting there because there is no professional hunter and no organized "safari" -- I simply drive out from his house and hunt on my own with only a black farm worker for company.

That sounds wonderful. Does he book clients on the property or is it strictly private?

He sold a few bowhunts in years past, but none since. It's strictly private, and he is extremely stingy with his invitations. Someone we both know well asked to visit his place and was turned down.

That is one heck of a blue wildebeest, Tom! Congradulations!

I don't think I'll ever get to Botswana. But is a great hunting destination!

Unfortunately, most of the areas in the Delta will be closed to hunting after this season. I know that that pertains to NG20. I'm not sure about NG14.

Can anyone give me more information on the areas closing for hunting?
I can't find any on the net... Thanks!

I Have hunted at Tswana Safaris (www.tswanasafaris.com) in the Tuli Block privately owned farm last weekend.Hunted Wildebeest and Impala going back there in the next month.
