I feel for you losing pictures. It is truly devastating.
Thankfully, I have only lost one day's worth in all the shooting I have done.
I have more back up now than a Buffalo hunter.

Thanks for sharing your adventures.

Well done, all the way around.
You both got some good trophies.
Good on Lana for sticking it out as best she could.

Shells removed from the rifle?!
I would have said a bad word too.
(The guy that had been carrying that rifle would have been able to hear it from where ever he was.)
He was doing what he was supposed to, removing one from the barrel as we got in the truck. He handed the bullet from the barrel to Lana both times.
He probably assumed I had reloaded them before the next stalk.
It's just that I didn't know about it. He's a good kid. I liked him. not really his fault. just one of those funny things that turned out ok.

It is one of the issues that can arise when several people handle a firearm in a series.
Just a break down that thankfully did turn out alright.

It just brought back a memory….
I never put a safety on my over and under shotgun. Never. It is either broken or ready to go.
I handed it to my wife for a moment and she put the safety on. I never noticed and my scenario did not turn out so well.
Nothing to dire, just frustrating. :)

Thank you for the report, I'm looking forward to the next addition.

Happy 30th Anniversary! What a great trip and fantastic bushbuck. Cheers!

Some closing thoughts.

Victoria Falls-
1. If you're taking wife or kids, definitely do the "Walk with the Lions" if your family is into the cats. It's not grandiose but it is a good opportunity to experience these cats up close and the price for the experience is for a good cause.
2. If you are going in September-December, definitely go Tiger Fishing in the Zambezi River. I understand you can wear them out during the low water months. I much enjoyed our fishing trip and the guide we used, but at flood stage you don't catch so many. If I went in the winter months again, I'd get the same guide and tell him "Carry 2 tanks of gas, I'll pay for the extra tank, and carry me as far up the river on one tank and spend the rest of the day slowly coming back down the river. Photographing animals and scenery.
3. I would recommend the lodge we stayed in. Can't remember the name of it. you can ask Marius. He arranged the whole trip for us.
4. a 3 night trip is just right. you arrive late in the evening and have 2 full days and then leave the morning of the 4th day.

KMG Safaris-
Anyone who read my report from 2 years ago can easily surmize how I feel about Marius and KMG. For those that don't, Know that I highly recommend them.
From the trophy pics, you can tell that Marius will find you quality animals. Just tell him what you're looking for and let him do his job. I told him the main animals and
told him what else I was open to shooting if we bumped a trophy not on my main list. I didn't tell him what I wanted to hunt each day or tell him anything. He is a professional and
does his job extremely well. He knew what I desired and delivered more than I could have demanded.
KMG's Lodge- The new lodge is not only very pretty, it is very comfortable. It has a family flavor, Marius and Louw's families are directly involved. The meals are very good home-cooked meals and
plentiful. If you're looking for a place to bring wife and/or kids, this is perfect.

I've been twice to hunt with Marius and enjoyed both trips very much. Actually the second one even better.

thanks Marius for a great 30th Anniversary vacation/hunt.

Well written report and lots of great photos.

You and your wife have some great trophies. Nyala and bushbuck are supper.

Sounds like a great anniversary.....especially the side trip to the falls.

Thanks for sharing.

All the best.
