Well this is it, after a long year of waiting I am down to the last week. This time next week I will be on a plane headed to South Africa for my first safari.

I just wanted to take a minute to thank Jerome for what is now my new favorite place on the internet, BrickBurn for his tireless efforts helping keep things in order and providing words of wisdom to safari newbies like myself and to everyone else who has helped me achieve what I am sure will be my first of many overseas hunts.

For this first hunt I have decided to go with Chris Troskie Safaris in Limpopo. Once the hunt is over taxidermy will be done by Bullseye in RSA.

If anyone has any last minute words of advice that would be great and just in case I get bit in the crotch by a black mamba while I'm there it's been a slice, otherwise look forward to my hunting report when I get back.

Cheers,

+1!........ And John, go ahead and put me in your WILL to get your hunting gear, just in case you get bit in the crotch by that Mamba.

Fantastic! Good Luck and keep your head down after you pull the trigger. He ain't going anywhere.;)

Ill tell you what... if you can find the snake and exact vengeance on it for biting me in my special place the gear is yours.

one month for me. the wait for you is almost done. have a great time, life is short. enjoy the stuff you love while you are still healthy enough to enjoy it

You will have a great time! Enjoy it like it's your last !!! :)

My best always.

I certainly will, part of the motiviation to book this first one was burying a close relative and a good friend of mine being diagnosed with cancer at a relatively young age. You never know which day is your last.

I'd add to cycle the bolt........just in case. ;D

Good luck, you'll have a blast! And be planning your next trip on the flight home. It always happens.

Awesome stuff John!
Chris runs a top outfit and good on you for choosing to hunt with an AH local operation. Sure way to put your mind at ease.
We look forward to the photos.

Take Care,

John,

You're going to have a fantastic time with Chris, I literally think every single day about when I can return to Africa for another safari. My advice having been twice now - breath, relax, soak in everything around you. Pay attention to the little details that we often ignore in our busy lives. Bird calls, smells, sounds of the bush. Take lots of pictures. Spend time with your animals after you harvest them, take in the fine details of each one of them, take the time to admire them. When I close my eyes I can vividly see particular details of each animal I've taken on safari, spend enough time appreciating them to burn the image into your brain. Trust me, you'll return on another trip and until then, these images will remind you of how wonderful the experience was.

And enjoy Sabina's cooking. That will be quite easy for you! Tell Chris I said hello.

Mike

No promises but if I see several I'll take pictures of them for you so you know what's waiting.

Take pictures of the Snake?

Wish you the best of luck, John !

Take pictures of the Snake?

Hopefully at a distance. Not alot of things in this world get my butthole puckered but a 10 foot snake that can drop an elephant with one bite ranks up there on my "disconcerting" list.

T-minus 12 hours. Be well all.

I'll check back in a couple weeks with what I'm sure will be a stellar hunting report.

Cheers,

John
