SOUTH AFRICA: Question For Tootabi Hunting Safaris

No abductions or allegations being made.

(the captor)."

Sorry, it is the reference to "captor" in Stockholm Syndrome that I was concerned with.

In the greater context of this thread, I did not want folks thinking any potential clients were being held captive.

I admit I over-reacted.

I want to thank all AfricaHunting.com's wonderful members who have supported me during the last month or so. I have made great friends on this forum and people I virtually regard as close as family can be.

There is even a number of Outfitters on this forum which I want to thank for their contributions especially on this post and for being unbiased though educative, informative and focused.

This is regarded as a big learning curve and will most definitely have a mark on the reflection of my early success and quirks.

It teaches me that as Buff Buster said earlier my dad use to tell me, "Son - don't get your cart before the horse. Just slow down a bit" is something my old man always tells me and just again shows how important it is to listen to your elders.

As most have seen (Buff Buster's post) I have done my Professional Hunters (PH) course with Chappie Scott from Spring Valley School of Professional Hunting. To cap all that I have learned will keep us busy for days. But in a nutshell I can vouch that I have learned many things of the industry which I didn't know before.

The modules/ fields we covered are as follows;
Bore sighting & Buffalo Charge
Practical Hunt
Skinning
Catering/Hosting
Photography
Trophy Judging
Oral / Communication Skills

See attached a copy of the marks I obtained at the course for those who is more interested.

I am now busy acquiring my licence from the Department of Environmental Affairs and as soon as I have it, I will again keep all of you informed.

All your support, private messages, calls, emails and Facebook message is greatly appreciated.

Till we speak again,

Warm regards.

Congratulations Loodt.

Beat you on the skinning section but you kicked my butt in Photography.
If you can believe that.

(I was not allowed to use my own camera.)

Good luck on your applications and negotiations with Nature Conservation.

I'm impressed you admitted it, even if you added a caveat! ;)

I was thinking it was going to be all 100% but that will do I guess. lol

Just keep going get your permits and move on from all this.In the end it will all work out.Just remeber your new big brother is going to give you a kick in the backside when I get there just because I can.I think you may have given me a few more gray hair after all this.

Congratulations Loodt and all of the best with your future endeavours!

Have to blame the gun, it's never the operator.

My Trophy Photo was the most pathetic of the entire group. If my passing the course was predicated on that Photo, I would have been sent to summer school for sure.

Well, I've seen your pictures, so it must have been the camera!! I'd let you photograph my trophy anytime. :)

not sure what this whole PH test is, I mean photography, ok I get that I think, but I noticed you scored very well in oral, not sure how that helps the hunter, but when in Rome I guess

Once in a lifetime hunt and crappy pictures!
Every Hunter wants a picture of the trophy.
If you do not get the point about setting a decent picture up, the pictures are a lost cause.

The ability to speak clearly in front of a group and answer questions while presenting relevant information in clear concise manner.
It's a great initial test to determine how you handle stress and manage people.

glad that's cleared up, the excitement in my wife's voice when I read how well Loodt did kind of had me worried

Loodt,
Congrats on passing your PH test. I am glad that you did not leave this site and have learned from the suggestions and positive comments offered on this post. Remember, that day you stop learning is the day they close the casket!
Your outfit along with other from AH will defintely be on the list when I start to plan my next safari.

Again, congrats and how about posting your photo that beat Brick for all to see......

Loodt,
Congrats , my friend. You have shown that you are a solid man , even through trying times. As I said in an earlier post , "The measure of a man is not in his mistakes , but how he conducts himself after he makes a mistake".
I would be honored to share a camp with you someday.
All the best,
T.J.

Next stop, Outfitters license and only then can you market yourself.

Looking forward to seeing you at a PHASA meeting and getting that vibrant personality of yours involved in hunting conservation.

Hunting regards
Dave

Reading all this posts above makes me feel proud to say I am part of such a great community referring to Africa Hunting.com.

Again it shows how our hunting community stands together no matter what.

I appreciate each and everyone's words of encouragement and compliments; and I so wish it would have been easier to get all of you together on one flight and to my establishment. To have the opportunity to sit next to a camp fire, with the African Sunset to the West and the Moon coming up over the East. Sharing insightful information, hunting stories and encounters with YOU folks would be captivating and a thrilling experience.

Thank you for the invitation to the AGM.

All of us are tomorrows custodians and we have to stand up for what we believe in.

Over and out for now,
Regards,

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
Ross
