I was recently thinking about the important firsts in my life (no, not the ones you're thinking of. Get your minds out of the gutter). I though it would be interesting to here about everyone's first:
Car that you bought yourself
Gun you bought yourself
Record
Animal you hunted

I'll go first to start things off. My first car I bought was a Jaguar XJS. My first gun I bought was a Winchester 1200. My first record was In-A-Godda-Da-Vita. My first animal I hunted was a pheasant.

Pontiac Sunbird GT, Mossberg 500 20 gauge, Some album by "the Cars", and whitetail deer.

First car, 1950 3/4ton Chev pickup.
First gun, a model 700 Rem .308Win.
First record, probably something from the Beatles or Beach Boys, early 60's. First big game, Sitka blacktail deer.

vb commedoore (14 at the time ) cop bait...learned to drive on dirt roads ,really fast , about a week after l got it .
when l still go home we all wonder how l never ended up a statistic, in that bloody car
sportco 22 lr in pump action . mustve shot 20,000 plus rounds with this little ripper ,
inxsive was my first tape I bought by inxs
rabbits and hares were my favorites until l was 12 ish then ducks and foxes for a fair while after that .

interesting one, 1st things you bought yourself......
car lamborghini countach qv
gun either a 9mm browning hp or hungarian feg version of an ak47 cant remember which came first
record double lp "made in japan" by deep purple
animal rabbit

Interesting to think back on.
Toyota Corolla

When I was 12 I tried to buy a CIL .22 target rifle . (Had the money but never got permission.)
Years later a Remington 1100 12 gauge.

A pass shot on a Mallard hen.

Hello Saul,

You must be a Hopeless Romantic, and therefore more in tune with the circle of life than most people.

I salute you for that.

1. 1956 International pickup truck, right side headlamp held in with duct tape (I paid $250. for it in 1971).

2. 1903-A3 Springfield, all original, appeared unfired ($40. 1969)

3. I've never bought a music record but, if I had done so, it would've been a Doowop song of one or another, such as: "Teen Angle" by Dion & The Belmonts, or, "These Arms of Mine" by Otis Redding or some such.

4. California ground squirrel (with a firearm), at around age 13 or 14.
I presume the sparrows and such I took with a Daisy BB-Gun during elementary school years don't count.

"I spent most of my money on hunting trips, Mausers and double rifles, the rest I just wasted".

Stay on that front sight,
Velo Dog.

1,,1956 Ford 2Dr post sedan $325.00 first thing I did was reverse the shackles then dumped a set of 4:11 gears in it ,That car meant I Never had to kiss my old mans ass to borrow his ever again
2,,A 177 Cal Benjiman air pistol,,still Have it
3,,never bought any music as a Kid, Cigarettes and gas were more Important
4,,Chipmunk,I remember I felt terrible

Car that you bought yourself---- 1972 Ford Maverick
Gun you bought yourself-------- Springfield 67-F 12 gauge shotgun
Record------------------------- no idea. probably an Eagles album
Animal you hunted-------------- grey squirrel

First motorcycle---- used 100cc Honda when I was 9, it was way too big for me but dad signed off and I paid for it. The next year bought a used 1970 Moto Ski snow mobile... Damn that was a piece of junk, fixed all week to ride on Sundays... But paid for both by selling sweet corn road side.

First "car" was a 1978 Ford F150 4x4 when I was 15, actually took out a loan and made payments all through high scool. Lots of good times, a couple major dents and a few major pulls out of swamps and snow banks... That was back when we could go 4 wheelin' about any time and anywhere we got the urge.

Remington Fieldmast 572 pump action .22, still have it but now it wears a scope... Shot a lot of squirrels and pests around the farm. First big game animal 8 point white tail with grandpa's model 94 Winchester in 32 special.
First Album---- Foreigner, Head Games

First Car - 1953 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup - it was a heap!
First gun - H&R single shot 12 gauge (still have it and use it for dove season)
First record - Sneaky Snake by Tom T. Hall (I was 11)
First animal - Pheasant

First "good" car.......1964 Chevy ElCamino ( Gosh I loved that car.)

First gun I ever bought.....I grew up in a gun shop. Old man wouldn't let us have a deal on ANYTHING. So I went down to the sporting goods retailer on the corner and bought my first from the other guy!! Springfield pump 12ga.

First BIG MISTAKE....joining the Army. (Second big mistake.....punching an NCO....that was REAL expensive.)

First dance....At Suzanne Jr. High School.....it was with Maureen McCormick..."Marcia" on the Brady Bunch....

First fight.....the dept. store sales lady that tried to fit me with an athletic supporter... her hands were COLD!

First record....Shelly Fabares....Johnny Angel

First bucking horse ride......his name was "Stomper".....(16 years chasing buckles) :X3::X3::X3::X3::X3:

First Cutting Horse ride....most fun you can have in 2.5 minutes with your clothes on! :X3::X3::X3:

My first trip to Africa .....I will fight to get back.

There's a bunch of the darned things when a feller thinks about it!!!!!!!!!!

Great thread!

Am I the only one that went WOW to spike.t's first car?

Mine,
Car - Grand Prix
First gun - M70 - 220 Swift. (It can be partially seen in my avatar) First bought myself - Remington 870, 12g
Record - Not sure but probably The Who. Current phone ringtone "Who are you"
Animal - Kingfisher with a slingshot. 7 years old. Mammal - dik dik. 8 years old.

Wheels,

I am convinced that the ENTIRE auto industry, from manufacturing through dealerships/sales, insurance, repair and maintenance, etc., etc., was designed around the concept of totally RIPPING OFF the consumer.

So, I must say that spike.t's first car only inspires me to yawn, precisely like my first vehicle does (1956 International pickup / one headlamp held in via duct tape).

I apologize for my obvious cynicism,
Velo Dog.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
