Cape Eland & Livingstone Eland Pictures

Maybe it's because I live in Alaska and am accustomed to shooting large animals like moose...but something intrigues me about Eland. I'm looking forward to hunting one this July when I head back to RSA. And those eland steaks on the brai are awesome!

Moose and Eland . . . I think they both produce some of the finest slabs of meat that can be thrown on the grill.

Thanks for all the pics...Eland is high on my list for 2015...along with about 10 others!

I'm with you Tim. For PG Eland is probably really number three on my list behind Kudu and Nyala. With the current plan though it won't happen until Safari number three though. Now if I see one I can't resist.... Hehe...

Yes sir! You are correct :thumb:

My biggest dream when it comes to hunting is to hunt and shoot a Lord Derby Eland with my bow.

No kidding....LDE would be #2 right behind a leopard. I'm booked for elephant in Moz in 2016 so that will be knocked off the bucket list.

Can someone explain to me how you are able to make your picture appear large in your post. I understand how to attach a thumbnail...but like the post above...the picture is blown up above the thumbnail below it...

Thanks folks. I attached an image into the reply, but it was still very small. I will figure it out I guess.

Good thing the stripes were not rubbed off the sides.
That is either the toughest bush on the planet or that guy is old.
Neat trophy.

thanks wayne, some of the marks could be from burnt bush as "visitors" from over the river set fire to a big area just before this hunt, but there is some thick stuff as well.

Those kind of visitors you don't need.

you are correct on that one. they burned areas that we had protected from fires by burning brakes earlier in the year, so we were glad when the rains arrived as the animals were starting to stay near the river making them easier for the "visitors" to find.......
