Hello!

It is my wife's turn to pick a vacation and we might be headed to New Zealand... perhaps on a cruise.

Dumb question(s) of the day:
1) Names (and web sites) of a few good outfitters.
2) Is it reasonable to think that a guy could sneak in a 1 or 2 day hunt?

To me touring to be touring is just a pain...I like to travel to hunt. With that in mind, any thoughts to make the cruise a little less painless?

Randy

How about bow fishing for Dolphin? LOL Im sure no one would mind.

I think theres a few 3 day hnuts available ,on both north and south islands .
what did you want to hunt ?
a mate just got back from over there and its the 3rd time hes been with the same bloke , when he finishes work l will try and get the details for , if not l will do it Monday , as it fallow deer stag season here at the moment and hemay hit the bush straight after work .

if your on a cruise ship in un zed ,depends when and where you cruise , it will be painless , and even maybe a wee bit choppy .
and the bar will take care of that .

ha ha ha , you best take a cheque book , just incase a bribe isn't out of the question ,
and a tooth brush aswelll as 7 pairs of jocks , so when you met your wife, bubba
,for the next couple of years . you are well prepared .

I'll kindly pass on the all-inclusive dolphin trip!

I cant see this trip happening for some time (perhaps a year or two)... just trying to get some thoughts put together.

Thanks in advance Bluey for any info you could find.

I try to get a walk in the woods/bush on any trip. I love scenery and geography, but I fee insecure with out a firearm along.
Possums are scary and those Red stag a Chamois can be outright dangerous.

If going to NZ make sure you do some fishing.
A buddy loved those big fat trout in the rivers. I'n still jealous.

pack of pussys the red stags are all scared of real blokes over here in nz . Just bring a knife and a pair of fast running shoes .

the possums aren't as bad or deseased as your racoons , bricko .
l agree with the trout , oldmate , only an idiot would go over to un zed with out their fly rod .
don't think theres any snakes there either ,l was told the spiders killed them all .....

gday dory , the only reason the red deer are mortally terrified of you real kiwis ,is that they saw what goes on with sheep .mate ....:biggrin2: :beatingdeadhorse:

Hi Randy,
Here is a place I looked at while at the DSC convention.

ASJ Trophy Hunting New Zealand - ASJ Trophy Hunting, New Zealand

I think they do 1 to 3 day hunts ~ take a look

From checking it appears they have a quality operation.

I am thinking about going there in 2016.

I'm in a similar situation. Last summer my wife told me she was going on a photo trip to New Zealand and asked if I wanted to go hunting and then meet her for a couple days or touring. She twisted my arm! Had to say yes. My research brought me to Peter Chamberlain of Kiwi Wilderness Safaris Lt. He was the cheapest gold medal red stag hunt that I found after a significant search and more importantly he has good references. I'll be there end of April and first of May this year. I'll post a hunt report in May so look for that as current info. Bruce

Thanks Bluey, James and Bruce!
Having a good time looking at the referrals!

My girlfriend and I just got home last week from a week of hunting with Gary Herbert, nzhuntingsafaris.com, then 2 1/2 weeks of driving 3000+ kms on the wrong side of the road taking in the fantastic countryside of the South Island. Gary runs a first class operation and has a wonderful staff that treated us like family.

Hay HuntingGold,
I will be hunting here at, Home - New Zealand Hunting Safaris in three weeks. I know many local people who have hunted here with Stacey Anderson, nothing but great reports and trophies.

He will do daily rate plus trophy fee or 3,5,7 day all inclusive hunts. Guaranteed shooting opportunity.

Enjoy!!

I appreciate all of the input!

If you guys are still looking and we can fit you in, it is possible to do a hunt in a few days, for free range animals it's a little tougher but with straight shooting, good weather and a little luck it can be done.

Just finished 5 days with Peter Chamberlin of Kiwi Wilderness Safaris. Great time. Good animals and good food. One of the nice things is that he does all of the trophy prep and packages them to bring back with you. Saves $ on shipping. His prices are very good. Call or E-mail him. He can arrange about anything you might want with some notice. Hunt report in hopefully the next 3 weeks.. I took a fantastic Red stag, a good Tahr and a representative Fallow deer. Bruce

Until this guy posts something on pay it forward free I would avoid him at all costs.

If it hasn't sold by next week I might be interested. Stock would have to be changed along with some other items. I'm already having a 416 Rigby built so money is a tad bit tight.

Hey pal! I'll take all the .375 bullets if they're available.
Thanks!
