I have just purchased a Wilson Combat 1911 in 10mm. I bought this gun because I wanted the ultimate combat handgun. My usual concealed carry handguns are the ruger sp101 .357 and the Springfield XDs .45. I have also been known to carry any one of my 1911s. Anyway, I chose the 10mm caliber over the .45 because while I love the .357, I also love 1911s. The 10mm is simply the best semiautomatic pistol cartridge that can surpass a .357 in a 1911 frame. I guess you can argue that I dont need it and the .45 is good enough, but this is meant to be the ultimate combat pistol, and so I decided to get it in the ultimate pistol caliber. I chose to get the Wilson Combat Tactixal Supergrade custom because it virtually allowed me to customize every single element of the gun so it is absolutely perfect. While it probably won't be my everyday carry gun, it definitely will ride with me a lot. I'll try to get some pictures up soon. If any of you own a Wilson combat, 10mm, or just want to know about it, let me know.

saul sounds very nice, i just checked all the different 1911 variations from different manufacturers at the sci show and just depressed myself with what i wanted but couldnt have :(

Thanks. I own a ridiculous amount of 1911s, and all I can say is that the Wilson Combat is by far the best I have. I am so jealous of you going to SCI. I was planning on going but didn't make t.

 jealous of each other ,i went to the show and you got all the 1911s , mind you i have just found out i have a sig 1911 c3 put to one side in a gunshop in lusaka as they had a shipment of stuff come in, they had one in last year a full size one and i said if they got anymore i would have one, so always wanted a commander size one so i think this is the nearest i will get at the moment. stick some photos on .

I only own One, a 1911 Smith and Wesson stainless in 45ACP I don't shoot it as often as I should

Tell me how you like the Sig. I've handled a few at the gun store and they feel good. I find that they are very similar to the Springfield TRP. I nearly bought one once because it was a limited POW edition. Unfortunately, when I came back it was gone.

will do but not back to zambia till prob end april then have to get it licensed, so a bit of a wait till i get my hands on it. looking forward to getting it as really like 1911s and browning hp.

That's a real nice gun. I bought myself a Springfield Pro in 45 ACP last year, it's my carry gun, probably the last handgun I plan to buy. It's just so damn nice I'm spoiled now. Can't go wrong with a Wilson, top notch. 10mm is a nice caliber too!

The Pro is a great 1911 and perfect for carry. You are also right on the spoiling. I don't even want to shoot my kimbers now.

That Wilson is a fine pistol. The 10 is a great round, though be sure and use a rapidly expanding bullet or you get the pirate and your neighbor down the street. My current favorite 1911 is the Sig .45 C3. It has the commander length slide and officer's length grip. Super accurate and really concealable.

Here's a pic of my Springfield Pro Love to see a picture of your Wilson 10mm

hi saul had a look at the sig when i was in zambia last week and i like it. had my fingerprints done and paperwork filled in for the licence, so hopefully should be able to pick it up when i am back at the beginning of july :)

Just saw this post. Never even considered buying a 1911 until month and a half ago. Local gunstore had a run of the Taurus 1911's at a really good price. The fit and most of all they function was flawless. Needless to say I fell in love with the 11's. Two weeks ago I I purchased a Magnum Research 1911 compact (just a bit cheaper than a Kimber) but it is a tight, tight handgun, bought a inside the pants holdster, and it is probably the most accurate handgun I have ever owned (semi auto anyway). All we need is for Glock to make a compact 1911 and all will be good in the world.(y)

Congrats on your purchase, the 10mm is a fantastic caliber. I had a Gen1 Glock in 10mm, gave it to a friend who was getting out/retiring from the military. A good friend...

I'm glad you have finally come over to the 1911 club. I've been shooting 1911s since as long as I can remember. They have the best triggers, best grips, best balance, and tightest tolerances of any gun design. They can also shoot really big bullets with ease. Honestly, they are still the best handgun even after 100 years. The 10mm is just icing on the cake. The best handgun deserves the best combat round.

hi saul finally got to pick up my sig c3 and its fantastic! i am not that great with a handgun but after 3 or 4 shots i was putting them all into the bull at about 10 yards much to my surprise! which for me is plenty good enough. love it and have ordered another one the carry scorpion which will hopefully arrive next year , then maybe a full size target version so i have one in each size kinda got addicted after shooting the c3 :D. the glock 19 which i am not that keen on has been appropriated by her ladyship as she likes them........and finn seems to think the taurus 24/7 pro is his now , but he does keep saying how he likes the trigger better on the c3 :LOL:

That is a beautiful pistol you have there. Seems like you got 1911 fever. I can never resist purchasing a great 1911.

My Springfield V16 LongSlide and Springfield Pro. Hard to go wrong with a 1911 in 45 ACP

Ok I can't resist posting my S&W

1911s just feel good in your hand!

Nice guns guys! Thanks for sharing.

Question on the 10mm... Is that caliber enough for a self defense carry pistol in bear country and for hog hunting? Or is any auto just not enough in that role? I've been contemplating a 1911 in 10mm, a Glock in 10mm, or just going all the way to a big revolver in 44 mag or 454 Casull.

I would just get one of each but the wife already thinks I'm nuts for having too many guns...
