We finalized the dates for my first african safari yesterday and got the tickets bought. Now the wait really begins.

I am so excited i don't know if i can stand it. we are leaving the 28th of may starting our hunt on the 1st of june and getting home on the 18th of june.

We are going to Namibia and hunting with kalahari hunting safari's in 2 of their locations. Khomas Hochalnd Mountains and their Klahari lodge area. then on a private ranch for a few days at the end for a cull hunt -- hunting partner is good friends with him we will be the only hunters on the land for the season.

my list of animals is as follows don't know if i will get them all but hope so.

Kudu
gemsbok
hartmann zebra
Impala -- not sure if i will get this one the drought has hit them hard

animals of opportunity:
warthog
springbok
steenbok
blesbok
blue wildebeast
heartebeast
baboon ?

I didn't want to count the days because i know it will seem like longer if i do

we are actually leaving a week earlier than planned, everything was set up for june 5th but we had to bump it up a week which is a good thing when you are not very patient. lol

I'm in the same boat as you. Except I don't leave until July 24th...... Only 167 days to wait......:(

Oh yeah? well I don't leaver until August 14th, so I don't feel sorry for you!!! ;)

the planning and anticipation really are fun though!!

Congratulations to you all, you're heading to Africa to go hunting.

Take it all in, enjoy it. Shoot straight.

Take LOTS of pictures and notes for posterity and the hunt reports!

Thanks Brickburn,

plan on getting plenty of pics, video and may take some notes -- not much of a writer lol

well since everyone was counting the days, I had to count mine...hahaha...at least I have broken the 100 day mark, and am sitting at 95 day only left today...not bad considering I just sent my deposit in a day ago... :)
my hunt this round is hippo, crocodile, spotted hyena, steenbok, honey badger, and all of the small cat species I can find, on calling night hunts. I haven't decided for sure on giraffe and red lechwe yet.
I have 17 hunting days so success should be pretty good hopefully and not rushed!

Thanks Brickburn,

I have found basic notes of the facts helps me keep the story straight.
It can blend together after a couple of days.

No Pulitzer prizes required, just the stories and pictures.

im very jealous!

my hunt is probably about 500 days out. :(

Good Luck with the Steenboks. They're slick little guys. :)

I have a countdown clock on the home page of my cell phone. Kinda painful but can't help but to check it a hundred times a day. 189 and counting.

August 21st for me. Its a long wait but the more time I have the more money I can take, so there is a good trade off there. Zebra, wildebeest, impala, gemsbuck, blesbuck, and warthog for me. Kudu too if all the planets line up properly.
