This pic I took while my wife and myself were on our first trip to SA. This is actually in Kruger National Park. We were out spotlighting trying to locate the big five. On this night we actually came across this big male leopard and two big male lions. I will try to post a few other pics of this cat. When I took this photo I was 5 feet away from him in the open safari jeep. The guide had the spotlight in his eyes to keep him at bay. This male had been in a recent fight and had a big laceration on his hind quarter. Pretty fortunate he stayed as calm as he did. After about 10 minutes he did get tired of us and got up and walked away. Pretty sure I could smell his breath.

LOL, I know the feeling. My wife and I were about the same distance from two male and a female lion on our photo safari before our hunt. That was on our first night in the bush, about 2 minutes drive from the Tremisana lodge, quite a start. Tremisana lodge is on the Balule reserve near Kruger NP. We were not fortunate enough to see a leopard.

Ghost and the darkness!
This was in Kruger National Park as well. I always seems to get the danger side of the jeep. These two big males walked right by within a few feet of where I was sitting, then proceded to let us know it was their territory.

Some things to do in Florida. Some people think the only wildlife is at the bars and clubs of South Beach.

My first big buck
This is my first big deer. I had just gotten off of crutches from a motor cycle accident, the doctor told to wait another 2 weeks before attempting to walk without them. I was so crazy though from being immobilized for 4 months that I had to get out for the first day of gun season. I couldn’t climb a tree stand so i had to walk about 400 yards to a spot where I knew deer would be moving, and just find a good spot to sit. I was sitting there n to expecting to see anything. Then this big guy came by with 2 does at about 10 yards. I was upwind so he couldn’t smell me and I eased my encore to my shoulder, and settled the cross hairs on his throat, it was the only part of him that I could see. He was looking at me trying to figure out just exactly what I was, and just as he was getting ready to run I shot him and he dropped deader than a door nail, 10 yards from me. It was a happy ending to a very miserable year.

Bow season
Not to bad for two days of hunting. My first buck with a bow was a 42 yard quartering away heart shot. A very good season .

A 2006 South african Photo Safari. Sorry that a few of the pictures are sideways, I am not quite sure how to rotate them.

Compilaton of my first trip to South Africa
Video of most of my pictures from the trip / few hunting sequences caught on tape
Amazing trip and my advise to those who havent been, just go. No excuses. Go. Take out a loan, it is beyond worth it. I have been putting my life on hold for this trip, started college in 2005 but soon dropped out to save up my money for this hunt, 5 years later, I should have graduated by now, but nope. I have been working in restaurants saving up money to go, my friends have all graduated, girlfriend graduated all with their bachelors or masters degree, most with their careers started up. Not me! Now that I am back I have started back up in school and everything, and catching up to where I need to be. But the one thing is, I am so glad I made that decision.
I would not let my very own future be an excuse not to go, so what could your excuse possibly be?
