SAD but HAPPY moment...
Happy but sad moment also... Sad but happy moment also. Who can say?
The german tradition: give the last food to a brave animal after a brave hunt.

Great Springbok Taken in South Africa
I took my first safari, with Ingwe Safaris in South Africa, in March 2009. My smallest trophy animal was also the best representative of its’ breed that I collected. I shot my Cape Springbok at 327 yards. When we got to the animal the professional hunter, Lieb DuRand, said “that’s 16.” “Where’s my tape?” He was exited and I didn’t understand why. He measured the horns and said to me, “It takes 30” to get into the SCI record book. Each horn is 16 ½” long and 6” in circumference. That makes 45”. I think the world record is 43”.He looked in his field guide and that’s what it indicated. He said “I have the new complete record book at home and I will look it up tonight.” I couldn’t sit still the rest of the day. I really got exited when we took it to the skinner and his eyes got big. The next day Lieb brought the new record book and showed me the 2008 record of 45”. He said “even if it is 2” smaller when it dries it will be in the top 20 in the world. Don’t ever shoot another one because it won’t be as good as this one.” He kept kidding me about giving it to him or trading it for a rifle all week. I took 7 antelope trophies on this safari and all of them will make the SCI record book. My mounts are in transit at this time and I can hardly sit still again. They should be here by September. It’s now July 29,2010.

Zimbabwe this April
This is from this April, on my Zimbabwe Cape Buffalo hunt. This is me soaking up the view from the top of a Gomo, or granite bluff, where we climbed to spot game. The light was trickling down in vanes from the clouds that day, it was literally other-worldly. Will never forget it, just so glad it was captured in a photo. I love the idea of this competition, my wife and I would love to go, something tells me the competition is strong.

First Day
This is 1/2 of a group of over 20 young bulls that we found on our first day of the hunt. We watched them for a hour messing around. This heard was waiting for it to get dark to cross the river and raid the local corn crop.

The day after I took my elephant there were over two hundred people there to receive meat. It was an amazing sight to see. The 6 hour butchering process, how desperate the people were for any part of the bull, and to see nothing left after it was all done. The PH organizied them into groups, of which the mothers with babies went first.
