Gents,
Have any of you ever ordered from these folks? I ordered a set of rings for son's new Tikka on Monday last week. As of this evening it still shows:
Being Processed In Our Warehouses
A week to process a set of rings that showed in stock? Really?

Not the Warne rings that are made specifically for the Tikka's dovetailed receiver. A bit of a specialty for the local Sportsman's Warehouse and the shipping is cheaper than going to Cabelas that's like 40 miles or so away. Besides, Cabelas in Glendale, AZ has pissed me off lately with horrible service at the gun counter. Not boycotting Cabelas as a whole, but that store is not going to see much business from me anymore.

I have never had a problem with Cheaper, maybe 5 orders/yr. I am seeing a lot of specialty and expensive items being back ordered now. Have two scopes I am waiting for from another supplier before leaving this week.

I, too, buy about 4-5 times a year. Usually ammo I can't get locally (.375 H&H) Only had one problem - they charged me for a rifle magazine that wasn't shipped, but they corrected the mistake quickly and with no hassle.

My experience with them has been very good, I agree about Cabalas in Glendale, long way to go for rather poor customer service. Have you tried Guns Etc?

Recently a discussion on another forum about CTD. Some were not too impressed. If you order more than 1 item and they come from different warehouses they charge for shipping from each. Those talking about it were not impressed. Seems like they should of had them shipped by now. I'd suggest contacting them. Bruce

I called them this morning, the result of which was less than inspiring. Conversation went something like this:
Me: Yes I'd like to check on an order that I think should have shipped by now but hasn't. I placed it a week ago this morning, here's my order number ########
CSR: Yes I have it here and you did place this order on 4/23. Well this product ships from our "other" warehouse.
Me: Um, okay, what does that mean?
CSR: Well it usually takes an additional day to ship.
Me: All right, so I placed the order on Monday morning and it would have maybe shipped that day or the next if in the "regular" warehouse. So let's just say it should have shipped by Wednesday from the "other" warehouse. Is that safe to say?
CSR: Yes that would seem reasonable. (Followed by silence as I'm hoping he connects the dots, he doesn't)
Me: Well, uhhh, so does it seem strange to you the order still shows as processing?
CSR: Yes. (Followed by silence again as I'm now hoping he'll take some initiative and try to find out what's up with the order, he doesn't)
Me: Okay, so what can we do here?
CSR: Well I'm sure this will change soon and we'll have a tracking number right out to you.
Me: Great, so I guess I should just wait some more?
CSR: Yes
Me: Okay, thanks so much for your help (somewhat sarcastically said)
To say the least I'm not real impressed with my first time doing business with these folks.Bonse Aba

I have ordered from CTD a few times over the years, no issues. I guess about Cabelas; one thing to avoid with them is buying a gun in the store. I have heard lots of tales of 2-3 hour waits to do paperwork and background checks. Just last week they opened one in my area north of Seattle and a friend of mine who BTW is on his way to RSA for his 3rd safari with CT Safaris, bought a new AR15 at the new Cabelas and literally waited 3 hours to complete the sale.

I can believe that. The store here in AZ is otherwise great, but the gun counter absolutely sucks. I've had one and only one good experience at the gun counter when I bought a scope. Other than that you wait and wait and wait for someone to help you.
I was over on that side of town a couple weeks ago for a hockey game. Our Phoenix Coyotes stadium is just across the street from Cabelas. So since I was over there anyway, I popped in to Cabelas for a couple or reloading items and then went to the gun counter. The store did get wise a little while ago and added a cash register at the end of the gun counter that is just for guns. Well, I went in there on a Monday I think it was at 5pm. Just a couple of customers at the gun counter. And I wait and wait and wait with no one coming to help me. Meanwhile 3 or 4 employees down at the gun only cash register which has no one at it are having nice shoot the bull session. After a few minutes of this and with my presence clearly known, I just walked off. I purchased my supplies, but let the cashier know that I have no intention of going back to the gun counter. This was at least the 3rd time I've walked away from the gun counter with no one helping me.
And don't even think about going to the gun counter at Christmas time, you'll be taking a number then.Bonse Aba

Checked CTD's website this afternoon, the rings have finally shipped. I was prepared to cancel the order if they hadn't.

Credit should be given where credit is due. Sometime after going to bed last night CTD sent an email that the rings were shipped on 4/24/12 along with a FedEx tracking number. But the thing was the FedEx website said they received the shipping info on 5/1/12. Hmmm?
So I called CTD today to get the story. This time I got a CSR with a little more initiative. I explained the situation and she agreed it was strange. She did a little more digging and found out that the rings were to be "drop shipped" directly from Warne. So the delay was at Warne not at CTD but she forwarded my information to another person to "escalate" the situation. Well a couple of hours later another rep called my cell and apologized for the situation and credited me back $15 on my credit card!
So kudos to CTD for making it right!Bonse Aba

That sounds like my dealings with them. Never had a problem that they didn't fix, and darn few problems. The drop ship stuff seems to have a fair number of problems.

I see that this post was made almost a year ago when gun sales were a little more "normal."
Last month I was visiting my family in Denver, and while there I went to the Tanner Gun Show with my brother-in-law where he bought a couple of pistols. Thanks to the recent gun related paranoia that our wonderful President has created, the background checks are now averaging 8 days -- if you can find the gun that you want to buy.
