In order of preference:
264 WM - pre 64 Mod 70 named "Betty". Betty is my mother and she always kept me fed.
375 H&H - pre 64 Mod 70 named "Susie". Susie is my wife. She took over from Betty many years ago.
300 WM - Mod 70 Classic Supergrade. No name on this one but it sure is pretty and shoots like greased silk.
I also enjoy and hunt quite a bit with 6.5x55, 300 H&H, 7x64, 243 Win, and 223. My favorite handgun is a Ruger Single Six with the 22 Mag cylinder.

Most practical three would be:
22 lr
30-06
.375
But my personal favorites would be:
22 hornet
7x57

night to visit violence on those who would do us harm" Winston Churchill

The 500 Jeffery is a lovely cartridge and capable of the same performance as the Gibbs, but if I could've afforded a custom rifle or built one I would've gone with the Gibbs. It's just so damn impressive. The CZ bolt face diameter in a Gibbs leaves so little metal I found it a tad scary, so I would've gone with an action (Montana PH, GMA, etc) with a larger bolt diameter. That being said, my CZ 550 in 500 Jeffery shooting 570grain bullets at 2300 fps is my favorite rifle to shoot offhand. It's very accurate and recoil is reasonable.
