Default Recovering Solids at the range?

Planning on going out to play as soon as spring breaks-and would like to try and recover bullets at the range.

Has any one tempted to do this with big bore rifles and solids?

Wet phone books, homemade ballistics jell, bucket of wet sand, etc?

I've been unsuccessful in being able to stop (recover) any thing as of yet...hoping others here are smarter than me!

It can be done with wet paper or cardboard packed tight together using boards.
You just have to make it thick enough.

Any ideas on how thick it's going to have to be?

I have not tried it with any big bore rifles, but off the top of my head, using long ago physics classes... I'd try 5 ft of compressed, wet paper at 50 yards if if goes through that then I would set a second set of wet paper out....try another 3 ft. Use threaded rod and plywood or some other boards and pull it together. We can get this physics project started.

You will need around 72" of saturated newsprint to stop a premium solid.
