DURING the past decade the game animals of Africa have materially increased. This is due chiefly to the unrest caused by the Anglo-Boer war and the consequent years of depression during which the Boer, who is the greatest natural hunter of to-day, has been, until very recently, deprived of the use of his rifle, and the professional hunter or the immigrant amateur sportsman having given the country a rest.
