The only reason for choosing a S/S over a O/U is looks. And the only reason why I would buy a double rifle over a good bolt rifle is looks and fun :)
Totally agree with Diamondhitch. High velocities demands tough bullets. In my experience does the high speed cartridges give you an edge when it comes to how fast an animal drops to the ground...

The original recoil pad that was on my 375 Ruger Alaskan is thick enough, but the one that was on my model was total crap in my opinion. Only thing I disliked about my gun, but that was easy to fix...
It should not be difficult to book with a reputable outfit these days with forums like this one and Accurate reloading. Always plenty of proper experience out there.
I would load 286 grn woodleighs if I was to use it on Buffalo.
