Spot and stalk hunting vs stand or blind

Hi All,
I'm new to the forum and have found it fun to have a look around here. I am in the initial stages of planning to hunt in Africa. At home here in Australia Bowhunters mostly use the spot and stalk method for hunting, either get high and look down on the game, follow game trails, stalk up to clearings or waterholes etc etc. I mainly chase deer over here and they are very shy and hard to get close to but I'm not sure if African animals are more twitchy in that regard.

Much of what I read and see about Bowhunting in Africa is that blind or stand hunting is the preferred method and of course this will increase chances of a successful hunt over water or feed especially for shy or pressured game. To my question: Is there much spot and stalk hunting done in Africa with a bow?

Its your dime. I am sure that most PH's will let you try stalking up on game. Just as long as you set your expectations accordingly. I am pretty sure Louis will let you move quietly through his place.
Not sure about general stats though.

Welcome to the forum. My opinion is that you can have best of both worlds in your hunt. Especially with Hartzview. ;-) hehe

We have blinds and our ranch are thick and big enough for you to try and stalk some game. I usually would recomend clients to divide their days up. Maybe sit in the morning for kudu, waterbuck etc. Animals which would not be easy to stalk. Then go stalking for Wildebeest, blesbuck etc. in the other part of the day. Or vice versa.... Sitting in a blind you may not experience as much as you would be stalking some animals. Bumping into rhino, buffalo etc. ;-) So in short is that you do not have to do either of the 2 for the whole trip.
