Did some walk and stalk bow hunting of my own!
Hi guy’s
The hunting season has drawn to a close and besides building more chalets and doing some paperwork things have slowed down enough for us to take a welcome break.
My brother and I took some time out and did a bit of walk and stalk bow hunting over the weekend.
I took a Zebra at 50 yards.
My brother did very well to take a klipspringer at 25 yards as well as an impala at 40 it was a great deal of fun to hunt with bow on foot and spending time with my brother out in the bush was nothing short of great fun!
I hope everyone enjoys the pictures!
Best Regards

That looks like a great time Louis! I too was hunting with my brother over the last week. Whitetail deer in Missouri but an adventure none the less. It's always great to spend time with loved ones in the outdoors.

Very nice Louis, something is so different about a bowkill than a rifle.

Hi Tom and Phil
Did you and Steve get a buck? I would have to admit that I envy my brothers klipspringer LOL.
Phil I will have to say that I am officially a bow addict I just can’t think of a more worthy challenge that hunting with bow on foot.
One thing that really impressed me was the rage broadheads I have always had difficulty in getting my bow to group with fixed blade broadheads so my brother gave me a rage to try I was very sceptical but hell they shoot exactly where my field points do so no need the keep sighting my bow in for different points.

The Zebra is extra impressive. They are one of the harder trophys to kill with a bow, and on foot no less. Congrats.
I have walked in the tracks of the elephant, heard the lion roar and met the buffalo on his terms. I shall never be the same.

I still can't wrap my mind around those rage broadheads. I have a pack and have never shot them due to my concerns about them. I will give them a try i suppose.

Hi Killzone
Thank you first of all for the kind words!
I used my Bowteck Guardian set at 80 pounds.
Arrow setup:
Carbon Express CX Maxima Hunters 400gr
Rage two bladed 100gr Broadhead.
It was a 50 yard shot with the stallion slightly quartering away the shot was right behind the shoulder (the area referred to as the triangle). I did not get nearly the penetration that I did with the German Kinetics earlier this year on a gemsbuck that was a pass trough but the Rage certainly did get the job done it cut both lungs up pretty bad. The entry hole that Rage makes can damage your rug LOL.
He expired after about 100 yards.
I hope this helps?
Best Regards

Thanx Louis. I was curios to know how the Rage would do over a long distance and on a large animal. Obviously still as lethal . :-)

Thanks Enysse and Nd!

It was her first animal ever and to take it with bow makes it all the more special well done Jolene!
The action photo would be one of my favourite pictures I took this whole year all I can say is hunting with bow on foot is a great deal of fun and I hope to take some clients around my place next year and do a great deal more of it.
Best Regards

I must admit, I'm always worried about how much money I'm spending when I'm hunting...especially with wife and kids at home, and that has made me mentally want to hunt more with a gun...than a bow. And that is because a bow has limited range compared to a rifle...and the fact I'm deathly afraid of missing out on a giant of all giants....just because it is out of range of my bow or whatever.
But the fact of matter hunting with a bow is truly exciting!!! The stalking, the one shot opportunity, the quietness of the shot...all the skill it takes to hunt with a bow...compared to a rifle...brings a ton of satisfaction to the hunt!!!
So I do understand the satisfaction and passion bowhunters possess. Someday, I want to let my hang-ups with rifle hunting go...and just bowhunt...for the most part
