Taxidermy Opinion
Hey guys....I need some help. I've got ten trophies to mount. I'm a little pressed for wall space. My kudu is going on a pedestal becuase I don't have real high ceilings. The one that's giving me a headache is the buffalo. I'm not sure if it should go on the wall or pedestal. I've seen pictures of both and both look good. What are the pros or cons of a pedestal mount? Which looks more impressive for a buffalo?....thanks!

Agree. The Euro looks great, as does the full skull. A buff, wall or pedestal, takes up a huge amount of 8.5 - 9 ft wall or room space. Horn drop can be a little tricky on a Euro, so make sure your guy knows what he is doing. If you ever build that trophy room or high ceiling den, you'll have an excuse to go shoot another.

Shoulder Mount
W. 41" D. 45" H. 34" 48 cu. ft.
Euro Mount
W 41 D 14 H 29" 18 cu. ft.
No issue if you have a lot of dead space above your head.
Take an appropriate sized cardboard box and put it in the room.
You will decide which way your Buffalo will be done quite quickly.
Although I had the space above my head I did not want the Buffalo "taking over".
So, Euro mount it was.
At least a Kudu can be mounted "tall" with a twist to take up less room. Not a Buffalo.
Good luck.Practice whispering before you leave for Africa!
A Legend in my own mind!

I like the pedestal mounts, I have a Kudu, Gemsbok pedestal mount in my game room and a Zebra on the way this month only 2 weeks away and a Eland planned for June. my game room is a 835sqf room above the Garage and it only has a 7 1/2 ft ceiling.
Enjoy life now -- it has an expiration date.

All of mine, buff included are euro mounts, I also have a problem with space, and it helps.
