I would be interested too. With the caliber of Taxis competing in the masters division most deductions will be imperceptable to all but the closest scrutiny and anatomical knowledge, these things are won and lost on 1/2 of a point. Could be something as simple as a single stitch the judge could feel or see or any amount of minutia that deducts 1/2-1 point, or the judge may just not like a particular species or not have as good of knowledge of certain species so he judges it more harshly than another. Or despite deserving a higher score another entry may simply be slightly better for whatever reason that the scoresheet does not reflect so that mount would be scored higher to edge out the other. As with any judged competition it all hinges on personal opinion.
The journey is the reward.

If that's 3rd place, the 1st and 2nd place winners mounts must have still had a pulse. Absolutely stunning, well done. Really, do the judges want it to blink when they touch the eye???

Even if they did blink, there can still only be 1 1st place. If you want to see how much this subject raises the hackles of Taxis just go onto Taxidermy Net forums and search for competition judging. Alot of relevant concerns, ideas, questions and general bitching! LOL
