    UK Deer,
I used trophy Solutions on my first trip in Limpopo back in '09. They actually did a good job. They had a 90 day turnaround time and kept in contact with me throughout the process...BUT, I did have an issue with the shipping company they used. I was qouted one price, and paid them with my credit card. When I received my bill, they charged me $200 dollars more than the original quote. After several failed attempts to contact them for an explanation, I had to dispute the charge which I ultimately won. I did receive an appology from Trophy Solutions. They said that they have had a few problems with that shipper, and they would not longer be using them...Who knows if I was being fed a line of BS or not, but it still reflected badly on them in my mind.

On my last trip in '11, I used Trophy Pro SA.... I wish I knew about them earlier. Johan and his entire staff went above and beyond my expectations...They gave me good faith estimate before I even departed from SA, and the numbers were spot on...They contacted me several times updating me on the progress of my trophy prep, and responded to my emails immediately... They were very reasonable on price and their work was excellent. They also offered full tanning services. I had a couple of flatskins tanned from them that came out excellent... I would highly recommend contacting them to see if they can accommodated your trophies when you are there..

    Dear FireHuntFish,
This is Johan from Trophy Solutions... I would like to confirm that I did not feed you a line of BS, as the shipping company we used for your trophy consignment, Professional Trophy Exports, did close down shortly after my correspondence with you.
    Kind regards
    Johan

    Johan,

Thanks for your candid response... My commentary still stands....The fact that they closed down or that you opted not to continue using their services for any variety of reasons did not correct my problem that I had using a service that you selected to handle my trophies...

I gave you full credit for the very competent trophy prep part of the process. HOWEVER, and this concept is directed to ANY and ALL of the associated industires in the outfitting business.....You are only as good as those who you associate with. Your reputation is on the line whenever you hand off any part of your business to associated services. I place the biggest part of this responsibility on the outfitter. They are the facilitators of the entire event, and the client is by default, pretty much forced to trust that they will use only the most reputable services that come in contact with their clientel before, during and after their safari. In my opinion, the outfitter needs to oversee, and intervene in some instances, to ensure that the client is being treated fairly and everything promised was delivered. Any outfitter who is not ready, willing, and able to do this is not worthy of my business.

In all of my years as a business owner and guide in the sportfishing industry, I took great pride in the fact that I held myself ultimately responsible for my clients' expereinces. If there was a problem with a caterer, or a hotel, or the taxidermy service, I made certain that the issue was completely resolved for the client even if I had to eat the expense. If a client is dissatisfied with any service that I recommend, then it's my problem...As an outfitter you need to ask yourself, "Do I want to piss off a client that may spend tens of thousands of dollars with me in a lifetime of business over a few hundred dollar squabble?".... I'd like to think that's why I thrived nearly three decades in a business with 75% of my clientel as repeat customers. Bottom line.....If you are in the service business, you do whatever it takes....

I cannot stress enough the importance of any prospective client to put in the time and do the reaserch and ask all of the relevant questions of your outfitter BEFORE you book. And, if you don't know what the relevant questions are....AH.com is the right place to begin. I have never encountered a better collection of resources necessary to plan a safari or solve a problem than right here....

    Welcome to AH uk deer,

I have contacted Trophy Solutions but they did not service (pick up) in the area I will be hunting. I have had a few high recommendations and been in contact with Johannes Meintjes, www.ubombotaxidermy.co.za, taxidermy2000@gmail.com, 3-4months turnaround and reasonable prices. I will be in the KwaZulu Natal area and they service the area.

    Dear Africahunting

I have said it before, and I want to say it again: "What's good for the Goose, is good for the Ganda..."

We have heard and read a lot of complaints regarding Outfitters in general, about this "research" to find the right Outfitter, but what about finding the right clients? How and where do we (us, the Taxidermies, Outfitters etc) get information about a client to find out IF he indeed has the money to pay for his hunt as promised. So many leave you empty handed with words like "I promise I'll wire the money as soon as I get home..."

A month goes by, maybe two or even three... No money yet, just empty promises that "the check is in the mail"... or "it got lost, I'll send another"... Now we are at the THIRD check... (Do I really look that stupid...??)

How can I find out if this guy really HAVE the money to pay? Who can I turn to do some "research"...?

HOW CAN ANYONE COME AND HUNT AND LEAVE WITHOUT PAYING YOUR ANIMALS...???

(Feeling terribe about a loss of $6100 is understandable, but what about that guy that's still waiting for his $22 000...!!!?? This is unacceptable!!)

Africahunting, you won't believe how many times this happens. It's like a new breed of hunters passing through. Not just at one Outfitting Company, but many. It happens all over and it needs to stop. The clients leave and forget about the skinners with no tips, animals that's not paid on the concessions, the bad relationships between Outfitter and Landowner that's being created that leads to be banned from your best consession, etc etc etc... Money that you have been counting on, but still, nothing but excuses.

When you booked your hunt, surely you knew if you had the money or not? How can you leave with a smile, saying your good byes and farewells, knowing that you've actually conned these nice people...?

If an Outfitter / Taxidermy's business can be ruined on AH because you told everyone that he didn't add your extra horns or tusks, or whatever that might not have been on purpose, (speaking in general) what should happen to these "Con-Hunters"..?? Where do we take it from here?

Remember, "What's good for the Goose, is good for the Ganda..."

    Who are these guys?
    Got some names locations?
    Outfits they have conned?

You will note that there are warnings on here about con artists pretending to buy hunts, book them etc.

Not the place in this thread. Feel free to start another one!!!!

Brickburn, these were sweet, lovely people, not doing this for a living. I really think they didn't think it through, jumped on the bus with their friends, but couldn't admit they didn't have the money to pay. Hoped for a miracle probably...

I saw this thread a couple of months ago but didn't want to provide any feedback until my trophies made it to the US. Well, yesterday I finally visited my taxidermist who received my trophies earlier this month. He had them all laid out for me to see. My 10 trophies came back in perfect condition. I must thank Trophy Solutions for the great service and quick turnaround with the dip and pack process. Also, Zingela Forwarders for the quick shipping. There was an open line of communications and all associated parties were copied on all email correspondence including myself, my outfitter Quagga Safaris, and my customs broker. My entire African expererience was very professional from beginning to end. Again, I thank Quagga Safaris (for the hunt of my dreams), Trophy Solutions, Zingela Forwarders, Fauna & Flora (customs broker in NYC), and last but not least the greatest taxidermist in the country Frank J. Zitz, who I thank in advance for the superb work I know he'll do.
