Where to report problems with outfitter/PH/shipper

We are having some issues and wondering the appropriate organization would be to report to. Who are outfitters/PH/shippers accountable to? We are having issues getting our trophies home. It has been 8 months since our hunt and we are not getting any closer to any answers.

You don't say what country you hunted in and without that info, it's impossible to give you an answer.

Probably the best place to start would be PHASA (Professional Hunter's Assoc of SA) at www.phasa.co.za - but they can only do something if the guy concerned is a member.

Another option MIGHT be the game dept for whatever province you were hunting in but I'd recommend you start with PHASA and go from there.

As long as you signed a hunt register and your PH has a license...you can report it Nature Conservation Dept. for that Province, expect some delays there too! If the PH is a PHASA member, call PHASA immediately! They will help you. After the some of the problems I had in RSA, I think going with a outfitter that is a PHASA member is super important! Yes, I understand their membership isn't cheap but they get a lot of things accomplished if you are a foreign hunter. They guarentee practically a 100 percent shipment rate on trophies out of Africa.

Any way we can get the name of the outfitter?

Baydog, the outfitter could possible not return the animals? I did that to a outfitter because I didn't want to put anyone else in harms way...and there way a payback. The Ph is out of business, which is good because he was crook. But you gotta be careful. This happen to me years ago. Now with a website like this, you can learn a ton of things from other people and read about how finding just the right operation for you. I don't blame JamieD at all.

We know another group that hunted with these same outfitters the year before and it took over a year to get the trophies back (some were missing and others damaged). We were assured this was a fluke situation and to make a long story short we were so convinced of this that we booked our own hunt with them last year (no flaming please..you weren't in our situation). Now we, too, are not getting our trophies and all new excuses as to why. Last year was our first African hunt and we were just overwhelmed with it all that we just trusted them. We don't believe they are crooks...just terrible business people who are terribly unorganized. We just want to have some help in seeing this come to a happy ending so our past hunt will not be spoiled even more than it is now. We are hoping for a renewed sense in an African safari since we intend to go back as much as possible.

Yes, sympathize with you JamieD, understand the strain you are under...and until you are where you and I were...you have no idea, what a pain it is.

I am sorry to learn of the problems you are having with exporting your animals, this is a terrible situate to be in hopefully you can get in to contact with PHASA, and if the outfitters of a member with PHASA they should act fairly quickly?

Not members of PHASA as far as I can find on their site. Will contact Nature Conservation Agency to see what I can get done. Well, I guess I can for sure claim that this is and will be an "unforgettable" hunt.

Even if you never get your trophies back, you still have your pictures and your memories. No one can take that from you. When they shovel dirt in our face in the end, it is all we will take with us. I do hope it gets resolved.
