Bank Wire Transfers - How to accomplish?
I need to send some money to my dip/pack. Less than $1K. The dip/pack gave me lots of numbers including a US intermediate bank in NY.
My bank is clueless on how to accomplish the transfer. What/how can I tell my bank to accomplish the transfer?
Or, does anyone have any suggestions for alternate methods?

Bank transfers are no big deal. Your bank does all of the work and should charge you about $15 to do the transfer. Tell them you want to do a "wire transfer". If the teller at your local bank branch is still clueless (I had the same problem) tell him/her to call the home office. ALL BANKS make wire transfers to move their own money.
Here's the info you need to get from Dip-Pack and provide to your bank:
Bank Name
Bank Address
Account Name
Account Number
Branch Number
Swift Code
I did the exact same transaction with Dip-Pack and had no problems.

Brown is correct, this is no big deal. I would actually be concerned with my bank if they told me they did not know how to "accomplish the transfer". Maybe its time for a new bank to handle your business.

While at the local office they called the home office - no luck. 35 minutes wasted. So, I called the home office myself. Still clueless. Another 50 minutes wasted.
I have everything browningbbr indicated plus the information from the intermediate bank. I'm wondering if I really need the intermediate bank's info - if the transfer can go straight to the RSA bank?

If I am not mistaken, my bank was not one of the "intermediate" banks but had no problem doing a direct transfer. The bank should be able to take care of it.

dv, you do not need to provide to your bank the intermediate bank information that have been provided to you for some reason, if anything it will make things more confusing... Banks use their own intermediaries to wire funds.
browningbbr has provided you with good information. International wire transfer depending on the bank and the affiliation that you have with them will cost anywhere from US$ 15 to 50.
Regarding the bank address, and for that matter any addresses provided, make sure to provide a physical address and not a P.O. Box.
Aside from what browningbbr already mentioned, you can also request for the following information:
Telephone Number of Recipient
Fax Number of Recipient
Email Address of Recipient

Thanks for everyone's help. The bank is a good, world-wide institution. Just not too worldly...
