The lion was mounted in my studio. It was entered in the National Taxidermist Assoc, 2012 convention where it placed Third in the open division.
Scott and I has a lot of advise from one Lord Rusty. a bunch of phone calls, 27 cuts to the original form and 120 man hours later. I just wish the base had been better.

Congrats, great mount. For those who don't know competition quality taxidermy takes far longer than the average job, sometimes hundreds of hours to get things just right. I am sure pulling a ribbon was very satisfying for you Bwannabe.

For most there is a difference in quality between competition mounts and what the client gets. But if you do your home work, you can find American taxidermist that do the competition quality on a daily basis. Our studio does not even try to do a huge volume. We try to do the best we can on each and every mount. I know many others that do the same.
Few of the high volume studios can produce top quality mounts day in and day out.

With the lioness the largest problem was the form started way out of sorts and needed much adjustments.
