AH to be updated with a new look

AH to be updated with a new look on Friday March 12th

I have been working behind the scenes for over a month now to update the platform that AH runs on which will result in a new better looking website, more functionality and easier navigation and for those of you who live overseas, particularly in Africa hopefully faster loading time. I predict that the transition will go smoothly, but it will require that AH is offline on Friday, March 12th for about 6 hours.

I am really looking forward to the new platform that will now also support blogs from a couple of great writers that I have lined up with more to come. Please do not hesitate to share your thoughts and ideas about the new site with me once it is up. I have really tried to listen and incorporate the ideas and suggestions that have been shared with me from all of you over the last year plus and hope to have a cleaner, easier and faster site as a result.

The operating platform could be the best in the world but it's nothing without all of you who contribute and bring so much life to the site.

Just be careful. When they changed the format on another Forum I visit, it has driven activity down to almost nothing. Not sure why. But it seems to have had that effect.

Jerome a very pioneering thought indeed , hope the upgrading makes the site more erudite.

Just to let you all know the site update has been postponed to Monday, March 15th. AH will be offline for about 6 hours! Sorry for the change in plan, an unavoidable delay...

Yikes. 6 hours without AH. Guess i'll have to actually work some that day.

Sorry for the interruption guys.

I already had to update the capacity of the server last January and once again the site was loading too slowly lately due to the large number of visitors so I've upgraded the site to our own dedicated server which just means that you should notice a great improvement in the loading speed of the site.

The new look and site update is still scheduled for Monday, March 15th. We will be offline for about 6 hours! Sorry I cannot be more specific as to exactly what time it will be down...

Hopefully you'll see a difference in the speed of the site!

Well, as you can see the migration of the new site did not taken place today after a failed attempt due to some unforeseen issues that will need to be resolved. I will keep you posted and let you know when the site will be offline once again for another try. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Jerome sorry it didn't work out. I got on earlier and the site was down was looking forward to the new look when i got home tonight. Cant wait to see the new look keep us posted!

It showed for a couple of hours this side of the world, but I guess with the time difference it got lost maybe?

The new format looks is nice.

I still like to see all the new active threads on the side (I realize they are still, it's just not the same), like in the old days (lol), maybe it will be like that...because some times I off line for a few days and I like to scroll through everything I missed....I'll have to give it time...to see how well it works for me.

Glad to see that some of you have found the site even though there was no link to it!

I'm deeply sorry for the fact that AH has been off line so much this week. We have faced several unexpected challenges while switching over to the new platform. I am still working out several issues that are occurring in other areas of the site, but thankfully the forum is now fully operational. Other areas and features of the site will be opening up soon. I really appreciate your patience and once again sorry for the inconvenience.
